We've all at one point or another left a wet towel in a heap on the floor. Sure the first few times after you wash them they smell fresh.. But then it happens a few more times... and that still pretty but disgusting smelling towel hides in the back in the closet because you don't want to use it. And definitely not let your guests smell it! Well my mom always knew what to do for that nasty smell. She used vinegar. It has many uses but she had two purposes in mind, hard water and teenage kids.  She used it on every load of laundry not just towels and now I do too.

Throw all the towels in the washer.

You don't need to use a lot of vinegar to get that desired freshness. This little measuring cup is a 1/2 cup size. Use the normal amount of detergent.

Toss them on top as you normally would with your detergent. Start the wash as (you guessed it) you normally would.

I always use a dryer sheet but that is just personal preference. You won't be able to smell the vinegar after wash so don't worry about needing a dryer sheet for the smell. Toss them all in to dry as usual. If you can't get to the washer to switch them for a few hours don't fret the mildew won't come back, thanks to vinegar you just used.

Fold the warm towels. (again another preference of mine, it keeps the towels looking fluffy and they're just so wonderfully warm that it's perfect on foggy days like today).

Enjoy the clean fresh scent and feel accomplished! You just saved your towels!

    A Tad About Me:

I am a Christian, wife, caregiver, and nanny who loves to experience life through the senses. I'm very much a "I can do it myself" type of person and learning new things is a favorite past time, doesn't always mean it turns out right, but I do try!

Right now my sweet husband and I are saving to buy a house and there are many many things we do to pinch pennies and still live full lives. If it's a challenge I find we try to make it fun every step of the way!
